Common sense is a gift we have a tendency to leave at the door. Some of us make wrong decisions because we don’t know any better, and others know what’s right, but choose to do wrong, just to ‘fit in.’ In either situation, once we’re in a predicament we need to find a way out. Check Your Keys was birthed through personal experiences. God literally walked me through each of the rooms in my home. He asked me to view each room metaphorically as the various parts of the body. God reminded me that in order for anyone to get into your spirit they must first have the key. The previous scenario taken from Check Your Keys II, the novel, presented a woman who thought she had everything together, only to discover her house was a mess, somehow her keys were switched, taking her on a life changing venture. People from various backgrounds and beliefs operate using principles that bring events to them that occur in their lives. It does not matter whether you are wealthy, middle class or poor, educated or uneducated; a principle doesn’t know or even acknowledge a class or a race of people; however, what a principle does acknowledge, is the way it’s being utilized and that’s the key. At times, events can spin out of our control; however, what’s in our realm of authority at all times is how we respond to these events. We have the authority to turn a situation from good to great or from bad to worse or any combination thereof. Before I go any further, let’s understand what a key really is. Webster’s Dictionary says a key is an instrument for moving the bolt of a lock. A key opens and closes doors, gates, cars, alarm systems, and the most common, your place of residence. Spiritually the key represents your authority, your will, your thoughts, your power of choice and most importantly, the anointing. The anointing is not just in the pulpit of a church, synagogue or mosque. You can be anointed to buy/sell real estate, operate a business, be a speaker at a conference, sew, negotiate, etc. It is a God given gift that helps you have a more fulfilling life. For those of you, who don’t believe in Jesus or His principles, allow me to share with you a story: I had a conversation with an atheist, I’ll call him James. James said that he did not believe in the ‘God’ thing. I said to him, “How could you come to that conclusion without reading the Bible?” James responded very confident, “It’s full of stories and characters and nothing in it really applies to these days and times. I only read books and other things that can generate wealth.” (James is a man of means). I asked James the question, “you do realize to read leads to knowledge, which can lead to power/wealth? If you don’t have any of those elements, would you agree that you could pay the consequences?” “THAT’S ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!” he said. “So that I understand you clearly, you are an advocate of reading and obtaining knowledge?” I asked. “Absolutely – it’s stupid not to do so.” I smiled at him and said, “So you agree when I say people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge?” “Yes.” I smiled, “You just agreed with a principle in the Bible.” He looked at me and walked away. James just proved that you can operate in a biblical principle and not even know it! As stated earlier the primary use for a key is to open or give entry to something or someone, more succinctly, an office, car or a house. The word house is the focus and reason for this book. Now there is a difference between a house and a home. A house is a place you drive or walk by on the street, but a home is where you have the key which opens the door, once inside you are the occupant. Your home is a reflection of you. Usually a home has the following areas: attic, living room, dining room, kitchen, basement, and of course the bedroom(s). It consists of door(s), windows and to illuminate, electricity. Each of these areas are in a strategic location; and each area having a unique purpose. A home that looks good on the outside should be a reflection of what’s inside. Notice I said, ‘should be,’ however, the same principle applies spiritually as well as to the body. If you’ve ever talked with someone who appeared to have it altogether looked good from head to toe, yet during the cause of consideration, you discerned the insecurity of this individual. The spirit will let you know whether or not the person is truly sincere. You are the home, but who’s occupying the inside? No one can come into your spiritual home unless you give them the key (e.g., invite them in). What’s on the inside of you will eventually come out. This book is written to make you think of areas in your life that need to be enhanced, improved or just down right cleansed. It is written to cause you to evaluate or re-evaluate your life, your decisions, to assist you in improving your life dramatically. There are exercises at the end of this book for you, the reader, for positive self-development. Look at it as a way of reinforcing what you’ve read. Now stay with me, we’re going somewhere with this.
